Seashell

Client:  Calligaris
Dates:  2022

The design challenge of the Seashell table starts from the use of a new material for the base: concrete.

This material often linked to the idea of both physical and visual "heaviness and solidity" has been redesigned to be light but resistant at the same time.

The choice to use soft shapes

and sinuous draws inspiration from the organic forms present in nature and in particular from that of the shell which, thanks to surfaces characterized by curves and ribs, generates structural solidity despite the incredibly fragile material.

The concrete thus acquires a new formal and functional language; the central base offers maximum usability and depending on the point of view it transforms and generates other forms. A union between inspiration and functionality, between lightness and resistance, a table of great expressiveness, an object of daily use transformed into an essential and sculptural figure to be exhibited.
